3 August 2010

If I never have to travel again, I'd be happy. Except wait, we are flying to London on Thursday! Ahhhhhh!!!

We left the rental house (where we were staying in Kirkland, WA for my brother's wedding) at 11am for our 1:30 flight. Unfortunately by the time we took a quick stop at Fry's, drove to the airport, parked, got the car seats out and luggage together, waited for the elevator, printed our boarding passes, got in line to check luggage, got to the security line, waited for the lady to check our tickets, got through the security line, put everything back together after going through security, raced down toward our terminal, waited for an elevator, waited for the shuttle, rode on the shuttle, got off the shuttle, waited at customs to get to the elevator (for some reason it is THROUGH customs even though we are flying domestically, so we had to be escorted), and then finally reached our gate, we were about 30 seconds too late. Jeff technically got there before our flight was "scheduled" to leave, but only by 2 minutes and they had just shut the door. It was like my nightmare come true!

This is what the night before we left Seattle looked like. Not the best night's sleep for Jeff or me!

Waiting at the airport.

This is what ONE CALM minute of the TWELVE CRAZY hours we spent in the Sea-Tac terminal looks like.

Bed time, but no where to go. Running around the dirty terminal barefoot and in pj's. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Then Jeff waited for an hour in a line at the service desk to get our tickets changed and meanwhile I watched our luggage and Nathan and fed Christopher. Nathan was begging for something to drink, he even asked for water, which he NEVER does. I told him when daddy came back, he could have something to drink. Too bad it took an hour! Really though, Nathan did REALLY well. He loved watching the airplanes and exploring. He was also very obedient and didn't wander off, which I was grateful for, especially while I was nursing. Then I put Nathan's stroller down flat, pulled the cover over him, and took a walk around the airport for about 15 minutes. It did the trick and Nathan has been napping for an hour and a half so far! Wahoo! We also finally got Christopher to sleep and he is napping on a blanket on the ground.

The good news is, we sort of have a flight and the airport has free wi-fi. The bad news is that our flight doesn't leave until 12:50am, we don't have confirmed seats, and Jeff's computer is already out of battery life (with no power plugs in sight). Oy vey! Like I said, if we NEVER have to travel again, I'd be very happy! Thank goodness we have Nathan's stroller! It's a pain to travel with, but SOOOO convenient, especially right now!
